The Bobby Scheme


The Bobby Scheme is a scheme that is funded by The Blue Lamp Trust. They are a non-profit organisation covering Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, with the intention of enhancing community safety by offering free services and advice to vulnerable people.


The scheme was first started in 1998 and originally was funded by the council however it has since been taken over by The Blue Lamp Trust. The aim of the scheme is to provide free advice and assistance to vulnerable people to help keep them/ make them feel safe inside their homes. Their services are currently available to people over 60, people with disabilities, victims of burglary, victims of domestic abuse and repeat victims of crimes.


Their services include free home visits where they fit  the following security devices free of charge:


  • Locks for doors and windows
  • Spy holes
  • Door chains
  • Long lasting smoke alarms
  • Carbon monoxide detectors
  • Letter box protection


Additionally, they can fit key safes and video doorbells for an added fee.


They also provide a Cyber Bobby Scheme which helps people who aren't as confident to stay safe online and to avoid frauds and scams.
