6 Tips to keep your home secure this festive period

As the Christmas season draws nearer, many of us are busy making festive plans, shopping for presents, and preparing to see family and friends. While the holiday spirit is contagious, so should be the thought for home security. With more people traveling or spending time away from home, the chances of theft or break-ins increase. Ensuring that your home is secure before you head out to enjoy the festivities can give you peace of mind to protect your loved ones and possessions during this busy time of year

We have compiled a list of recommended precautions that you should take to keep your house Moore Secure this Christmas

   1.   Make your house seem occupied

As we will all be spending more time away from home it is advised that you make your house look occupied through the installation of timers to turn your lights on when no one is home

    2.  Ensure all windows and door locks work

Although it seems obvious many people do not have working locks in their homes which makes them an easy target for intruders

   3.  Keep all valuable possessions out of sight

You should not keep anything of value that may tempt intruders into your home, near any windows or doors where they are easily visible. It is also recommended that you mark items of value with your name and/or postcode to deter theft further

   4. Ensure that all vehicles are secured and keyless car keys are kept away from the door

It is recommended that you keep your vehicles secured and covered by security lights or cameras where possible as well as removing all valuables when you exit the vehicle. At Moore Secure we offer vehicle alarms that can be easily added to any vehicle of valuable possession and connected to set off your house alarm if motion is detected.

   5. Do not publicise your plans on social media

You should avoid from posting that you are away from the house at any point on social media as it advertises the fact that your house is empty

   6. Use a video doorbell

By having a video doorbell it allows you to prevent unwanted visitors by seeing who is at your door before you answer it. This allows you to monitor who is knocking on your door both when you are home and when you are out. At Moore Secure we also supply and fit video doorbells in order to keep your house secure.
